Requirement for Caregiver Program

The Caregiver Program provides an opportunity for temporary residents with a caregiver work permit, as well as those who have been approved for their caregiver work permit based on an employer’s positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application before November 30, 2014, to transition to permanent residency in Canada. This program is designed to support caregivers who have demonstrated their ability to contribute to the Canadian workforce and integrate into Canadian society, allowing them to apply for permanent residency after fulfilling the program's requirements.

Experience as a caregiver

A minimum of six months’ training or one year of full-time work experience as a caregiver

Language Proficiency

Language proficiency test in English or French and Canadian diploma or degree or equivalent foreign studies

As a live-in caregiver, you can apply for an open work permit when you apply for permanent residence under the Live-in Caregiver Class. You must also have: held valid work permits under the program for two years or more; and. worked for at least 3,900 hours or 2 years as a live-in caregiver within no more than 4 years.

CLB Level 4 is the passing score for Caregiver program

There is normally no age limit for caregivers, although do take note that you cannot work in Canada if you are under 16 without your parent's consent.
